We anchored in Silver Lake in Ocracoke and spent two days there. The anchorage experience was not fun, especially the part where we spent a night cuddled up next to a dredge barge…but that’s a story for another day. The town itself was cute.
I especially liked the signage of this mermaid-themed shop. I love all things mermaid and V does too. We read Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet at the local library.
Here’s another one.
Did I mention I like mermaids?
Anyhoo…
We went for a morning hike at Springer’s Point Preserve and played at the beach.
V earned her first Junior Ranger Badge from the Cape Hatteras National Seashore Visitor Center. They gave us the program for ages 2-5. In order to earn her badge, we had to fill out a few pages of activities. V colored some pictures, played picture bingo (spotting shells, seagulls, etc.), and counted items. She also had to do things like close her eyes at the beach and describe what she heard and smelled, and pledge to protect the national parks. She was so excited to get her badge, I think she is hooked!
After a hard day’s work, the kids enjoyed some ice cream.
Guess who else likes mermaids. Big Z is one for Halloween.
Sorry to all Ocracokeans, but I have to ask – is Ocracoke something like Pepsi Shiso or Pepsi Ice Cucumber? http://cefa.sakura.ne.jp/cefablog/pixmaps/products_cucumber.jpg
