Tig finished our first attempt at wooden animal figures. This mama and baby bear pair were made from scrap walnut pieces a neighbor gave to us. The pieces were cut with a scroll saw and sanded with a belt sander and a dremel.

These are just gorgeous! I love this blog, by the way. Congratulations on the new baby!
They are so sweet. You obviously have talent at home 🙂
Hi…These bears are beautiful! I would love to make something similar for my grandson. Do you remember which bit you used on your Dremel? And how did you sand the tight places with a belt sander? I realize it’s been a while since you made this. Hope you can give me some advice. 🙂 Thank you so much-
Hi Nancy, we used the smallest drum shaped sanding bit we had in our kit and it worked fine. In tight places we mostly used the dremel or sanded by hand. Our kids still play with the bears, so it was worth the time and effort.
Thanks so much for your reply! Love those bears-
